Restoration Project
Jeff & Sheri Easter are excited to begin the restoration of the Lewis Family Homeplace. Located at 1935 Lewis Family Road in Lincolnton, Georgia, this project will honor the Lewis family and their dedication to Bluegrass Gospel music for over half a century while enhancing the historical value of Lincoln County. The Lewis Family Homeplace was crafted in 1935 by Pop Lewis, patriarch of the Lewis family, and was the birthplace to many of the Lewis Family children. Affectionately known as the "First Family of Bluegrass Gospel Music," the Lewis Family is renowned for their fifty-five year career in Bluegrass Gospel music. Pop Lewis was an inductee in the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame and until his death in March 2004, received numerous lifetime achievement awards. The family has been inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame and has performed in many prestigious venues including the Lincoln Center and the Smithsonian Institute. For years, we have dreamed about restoring this treasured landmark to its original condition, and now we have the opportunity. If you have followed the Lewis Family through the years or experienced a concert along the way, we would love to give you the chance to be a part of this effort.
