The Lewis Family Christmas Letter 2008

It’s Christmas time again! The Lewis Family has had a wonderful year and they are beginning their 58^th year of traveling and singing.

The biggest honor this year was on September 22^nd, what would have been Pop’s 103^rd birthday.  The state of Georgia declared part of State Route 378 in Lincoln County between the city limits of Lincolnton and the Wilkes County boundary the James Roy “Pop” Lewis Memorial Highway.  Local and state officials met in Lincolnton, along with Pop’s family and friends, as the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners and Georgia Department of Transportation unveiled the signs for the highway. The stretch of road runs past the Lewis Family home, so when you come to The Lewis Family’s Homecoming & Festival in Lincolnton next year, be sure to look for the signs!

 

The Lewis Family just completed their 54^th annual Christmas TV show for Channel 6 in Augusta, GA.  This year’s 30 minute Christmas special was recorded at Martin’s Crossroads Church in Lincolnton. 

 

Please continue to remember Polly in your prayers as she deals with her health issues.  She is still traveling and singing with the family, but not able to do all the other tasks she previously handled with the group. 

 

The Lewis Family is looking forward to the coming year of 2009!   The 22^nd Annual Lewis Family Homecoming & Bluegrass Festival is set for April 30^th through May 2^nd, 2009 at the Elijah Clark State Park in Lincolnton, GA.  Come and join us this year!
